Alister grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, starting his hotel career at the young age of 16. Glen’s first job was as training manager of a small country lodge, where he refined his knowledge on all aspects of hotel operations. He quickly progressed in his career, and began work at the world-famous Cape Grace hotel, where he was a member of the opening team. He was promoted several times over his five years with the hotel, which included its 2000 “Best Hotel in the World” accolade by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Soon after, Glen relocated to the U.S. and worked at Barnsley Gardens Resort as food and beverage director, followed by a general manager position at Starwood Luxury Collection Hotel – The Hotel Ivy, then later opened restaurant La Pietra Cucina. He joined the DGB USA team in 2009 as North American National Sales Manager, overseeing nine different South African brands in the US. He now is an integral member of National Distributing Company as an on-premise district manager.
