Along with partners Brooks Cloud and Mike Blydenstein, Georgia native Julian Goglia is one third of the team behind The Mercury and The Pinewood restaurants as well as Proof Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrups. As beverage director, Goglia has worked with his partners at Decatur’s The Pinewood since it’s opening in 2012. Having spent six years working in pharmacies, Goglia’s professional ambitions were changed by a motorcycle trip around the United States. On his journey, he learned from some of the best barkeeps on the East Coast and was inspired to try his hand at mixology, starting at Jerry Slater’s H Harper Station.
Goglia’s modern approach to classic cocktail culture has earned him a number of notable accolades including The Daily Meal’s Top 25 Bartenders in America and Atlanta’s Best Bartender by Eater Atlanta. At The Mercury, Goglia has reintroduced guests to mid-century American cocktail culture, including his own modern take on classic cocktails using house made ingredients.
