Austin Agent was born and raised in Philadelphia, MS. His love of cooking started when he would help his grandmother in the kitchen, baking desserts and meals at family gatherings. Agent moved to Oxford MS to pursue a liberal arts degree at Ole Miss in History and Anthropology. After a year away from Oxford working for Glenn Foods in Jackson, Bottletree Bakery recruited him to return to Oxford and he discovered his true interest in baking for his career. In 2012, Agent started with John Currence’s at Big Bad Breakfast and introduced various breads and pastries as specials to their guests. Chef Dwayne Ingraham noticed Agent’s attention to detail and asked him to join the pastry department. In April 2016, Austin Agent was promoted to Pastry Chef of City Grocery Restaurant Group’s five restaurants and catering company. He has introduced to the pastry program a new element of southern tradition, challenging previously conceived ideas of plated desserts at fine dining establishments.
