With great pleasure, I present Taylor Bowen-Ricketts of Fan and Johnny’s in Greenwood, Mississippi. Taylor grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and received a B.F.A with an emphasis in Painting from the University of Mississippi. Her art background not only translates to the canvas, but is ever present in her food each day at her latest restaurant, Fan and Johnny’s in Greenwood, Mississippi, the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Fan and Johnny Black were Taylor’s maternal grandparents from Louisiana. She was lovingly influenced by their approach to food and the passion they infused in every dish that came out of their kitchen. This is where her love of food, cooking, and using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients was born. Taylor has been a part of several food and restaurant projects throughout the Mississippi Delta and in Oxford, Mississippi. She is a visionary in the culinary field and many of her concepts have paved the way for more of its kind. She and her husband, Darby, moved to Greenwood to open Delta Fresh Market over a decade ago, and have been involved in several projects since moving to the area. Taylor was a James Beard Awards semi-finalist for Best Chef-South in 2011 Taylor and Darby live in Greenwood and have two daughters, Sela and Lola.
