Home is where the heart is. Southern cuisine is more than the traditional, more than generational history, and definitely more than shrimp and grits. Really, Southern Cuisine, and even defining yourself as Southern, comes from the heart, and there is no one specific background that has to define that. Today, Southern cuisine comes in all shapes and forms as the South becomes a melting pot of talent, culture and ethnicities. Celebrating Southern talent who play a role in this merge of flavors and are re-writing what Southern cuisine looks – and tastes – like today, this year’s showcase of female talent in the industry will shine a spotlight on diversity and the unique backgrounds of Southern chefs who are creating their own definition of restaurant culture and breaking the barriers to success. They’ll each tell the story of their journey and feature a dish inspired by their own cultural background, paired with wines chosen by a female sommelier and cocktails shaken up by a female mixologist.
