Ampelidae, takes its name from the Greek word ‘Ampelos,’ the vine and is the brainchild of Frédéric Brochet, a born winemaker in an unknown sub-region of the Loire, Haut Poitou. Frédéric remembers having helped replanting a vineyard of Pinot Noir in 1981 when he was 9 years old. A couple years later in 1983, he took part in the first harvest of the same plot. He made his first wine alone at the age of 15, and wrote his first book on viniculture at the age of 14. Brochet taught at the University of Bordeaux’s Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences. He has lectured on subjects ranging from the psychology of tasting to organic viticulture. Since 1995 he has dedicated the majority of his time to Brochet Wines as Winemaker-Director. Frédéric Brochet Wines are contemporary wines with style, vitality of innovation and a deep respect for the environment.
